Crossing the 180th Meridian - always a highlight !

Captain Reef Endeavour - Wednesday, March 21, 2012

Bula,

We have just completed the Heritage Cruise and the highlight of the cruise was the crossing of the 180th meridian. Most passengers did not realize that we cross the meridian twice meaning theoretically we lost a day heading west and gained a day heading east.  This took a bit of explaining for some to grasp. Lucky we had Florian who would make a very good teacher in the classroom. Very convincing!! Our passenger divers were very delighted after their dives in Taveuni, Whispering Tide and Manava Cay. Their remarks, fantastic, awersome………..

Northern Fiji Heritage Cruise - Day 2

Captain Reef Endeavour - Wednesday, July 06, 2011

Wonderful snorkelling at Manava Cay on Wednesday morning; a visit to Mr. Tokito (a resident Japanese gentleman and pearl farmer) at Nanuyakoto during the afternoon where passengers were able to view (and purchase) his pearls, including his first and newly harvested black pearls. After dinner everyone, especially the children, enjoyed the traditional Fijian fun of hermit crab racing.

On Monday we visited Nananu-i-ra for some more first class snorkelling and diving before heading back towards Denarau where everyone disembarked on Tuesday morning.

Northern Fiji Cultural Cruise - Day 7

Captain Reef Endeavour - Monday, June 13, 2011

Monday was spent at our favourite “desert island”, Manava Cay (also known as Sali Sali Island) on the northern coast of Viti Levu where both the snorkeling and diving is great, before heading back towards Denarau where all but two of the passengers disembarked at 0900 hrs. Two passengers chose to continue on for the 4 night Yasawa Cruise.
